About the Exhibition:
One of two OCAD U 2022 Sculpture/Installation student thesis shows, Simple, Perfect, Continuous, and Perfect Continuous invites three perspectives on integrating ancestral knowledge, meaning-making, and future realities.
Exhibition Statement:
Simple, Perfect, Continuous, and Perfect Continuous.
There are four states of activating the past, present, and future tense within
the English language. These states also live in the language of meaning-making. The life of things
- spoken, made, gestured – in this room or otherwise, are linked in
conversation by:
The simple – intent to communicate a viewpoint, the beginning, the
movement behind a sprouting; an extending gesture.
The perfect – innate acknowledgement of the past and an openness of
future – its resonance flowing into an abundance of currents.
The continuous – process of reciprocal relationships that shape
conversations, propositions, and earthly matters.
AND
The perfect continuous – making of space. Space for a propositional
future. For the multiplicity of states, bodies, and voices. For ongoing,
empathetic conversation.
Together, in word, thread, wood, sound or other, the four states play and
converge. They become conduits to honouring ongoing, entangled
realities.
