Exhibitions At Gallery 1313 - Guidelines

PROPOSAL
Potential exhibitors should submit a exhibition package including:
- 10-15 slides (some stills or digital images are acceptable), a CV (up to date),
-an artist statement,
-a written proposal with proposed dates,
-what works will be shown if not the ones submitted in a slide package,
-any special requirements needed from the gallery ie monitors,stands etc.


PROCEDURE
The exhibition package will be reviewed by a program committee (including the Gallery Director and four members of the program committee).There are several deadlines for submissions.The Gallery is booked based on availability and the decisions of the program committee.


FEES AND EXPENSES
Rental Bookings for Gallery 1313 are as follows: Main Gallery - $1000./2 weeks, Process Gallery - $500./2 weeks, Window Box - Free for 1 month. All rentals are based on availability and the program plans for that year. For rental of the Main Gallery,the rental parties are required to sit the exhibition Wed-Sun 1-6pm.Process Gallery rental parties are not required to sit the exhibition.The Gallery does not take commissions on sales and the exhibitors will be required to look after their own sales.Exhibitors are encouraged to apply for grants (Toronto Arts Council, Canada Council and Ontario Council) to support exhibitions.

Rental Fees cover the basic costs of the space as well as insurance.(up to $25,000 per month).Mailings,advertising and other incurred expenses are the responsibility of the exhibitors.The Gallery Director will promote the exhibition in the interests of the Gallery and will look after gallery listings.Exhibitors are encouraged to give the Gallery Director any items that they would like to go to media,ie.press kits photos etc.Rental fee does not include documentation of the show.Documentation of the exhibit should be arranged at a time when the gallery is not busy.

PVAC Members showing in the Cell Gallery will co-ordinate their receptions with the exhibitions in the Main Gallery and are encouraged to install their art works at the same time. Cell Gallery exhibitors are not required to sit their shows.


CONTRACTS
When an exhibition has been confirmed the exhibitors are required to sign a contract and make a 50% deposit on the rental fee. The balance must be paid on or before installation of art works. If the exhibitor does not follow the contract or show the work that has been proposed, the contract may be declared void at the decision of the Gallery Director or program committee.


INSTALLATION AND OPENINGS
Installation of art works are to be done with the supervision of the Gallery Director.The Gallery Director will open and close for the exhibitors during installation and exhibition of art works.Exhibitors are to use the main exhibition area;the Gallery Office and the Cell Gallery (members gallery) are not part of any agreement.


Exhibition openings are on Thursday evenings from 7-10pm with few exceptions.


During opening reception the Gallery will look after refreshments and the exhibitors will look after food (a table will be provided for this purpose).The take down times of the exhibition should be arranged when the contract is signed. Storage of art works is limited.
