THE WATERFRONT : The Artists Vision is a group exhibit curated by Phil Anderson examining the possibilities for Toronto’s waterfront as seen by artists . Long separated from access to the waters edge accept for a few walkway bridges or underpasses , Toronto has not seemed to find a way for people to easily access one of its greatest resources .Governments on all levels have announced plans on occasion but nothing of anything that seems terribly promising or visionary . Film production facilities and casinos mixed with housing might be difficult to get excited about . Other smaller Canadian cities such as Kingston , Halifax and Vancouver have made strides to embrace their harbour fronts and give people access to the water front .
With this exhibition THE Waterfront artists have the opportunity to present their own vision for what might be an accessible and inviting part of their city . Other urban centres face the same problems so art submissions do not have to only look at Toronto but some ideas and visions could be universal .
Artists any choose any media to present their art works . Please send an art statement , current CV , several low res images and a image list to director@g1313.org . Deadline is Dec. 15 5pm . There is a fee of $50 per accepted work . Artists that will be in the exhibit will be sent notification and a contract . Artists are responsible for any shipping costs .
