Reception: Thursday August 31st, 7pm.

BEYOND BORDERS brings together female artists from different corners of the world and seeks to empower them by opening a dialogue in a common creative language.

Four American female artists, originally from Colombia, Panamá and Perú, join a local Toronto artist born in Morocco, for an exhibit celebrating their history as immigrants. Felicia Tsidivis, Victoria Jimenez, Veronique Ouaknine and William C. Wallis, all former students of Larry Poons at the Art Students League of New York, will present some of their abstract paintings, infused with colors inspired by their native countries and fueled by their search for artistic identity. Raquel Rub and Anabel Rub Peicher, both internationally acclaimed artists, will display their sculptural creations, each a manifest of their artistic passion.

All six artists have donated original artwork to be auctioned at the reception. All proceeds of the auction will benefit the Together Project, a not-for-profit program that connects government-assisted refugees with support groups of volunteers in order to help these newcomers integrate into their communities, create important social networks and build successful futures in their new Canadian home.
