An Exhibition by Ella Day

Enter a small room of large paintings drenched in manic colour and masquerade.

These paintings are contemporary with an illustrative medieval undercurrent.

This is a continuing series of acrylic paintings mixed with photo-based collage elements. Day works primarily with palette knives to create an impasto imprint.

Take a minute to consider the effect of these works as an ocular manipulation, a place where things are what they are, but may not be quite what they seem.  Animals are human and humans are animals.  The woods are watchful in this installation and fire works seemingly bolt across the sky.

This is a play of time and space, suspended in a painterly fairy-tale, a hallucinatory dream.
