SCRATCHED is part of a collection called Sextiles: Sexploration through fabric by Vanessa Lee Wishart. It is inspired by various sexual experiences, experienced by the artist and stories gathered from known acquaintances. This installation explores the notions of sexuality, fashion, relationships, and openness in relation to sexual gratification.
Vanessa Lee Wishart is a Toronto based fashion artist, who was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She received a diploma at the International Academy of Design for Fashion and certification from George Brown College for Millinery. Vanessa is an award-winning designer and has exhibited in various events, festivals, and museums nationally and internationally such as Scotiabank Nuit Blanche, La Musee Du Chapeau and The Costume Museum of Canada. She is currently designing costumes for theatrical productions set for tour later this year. She continues to evolve her skills as an artist and wants her work to make an impact within the artistic realm.
